Rapper, songwriter, and fashion designer Kanye West has been under fire for his recent social media activity, pertaining to anti-Semitic comments and other controversial statements.
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, took to Twitter to release statements directed at the Jewish community. He claimed that Black people are a part of the Jewish community, and therefore, he cannot be anti-Semitic.
Ye has had numerous accounts of controversial behavior. One example is when he appeared at Paris Fashion week representing his company, YEEZY, for the Season 9 collection. He showed up in a t-shirt with the phrase “White Lives Matter” emblazoned on the back. Many were outraged by this, calling him irresponsible and disrespectful.
His quite recent statements about Jewish people were the last straws for the many companies supporting him. Adidas, Balenciaga, Vogue, and many more brands have all cut ties with the infamous rapper. Also, Instagram and Twitter restricted his account, and many stadium shows have been canceled.
West reportedly continues to battle mental health issues, as he struggles with bi-polar disorder and depression.
However, many are still skeptical about his recent media attention, as he has always been a controversial public figure. Many think West’s offensive actions are purely for publicity and are simply unacceptable.
