Brrzaar Fro-Yo and Snack Review

Frozen yogurt from Brrzaar.

By Jill Warnke

Every day, students are scattered all around Main Street at various locations. There are many different places where Irvington students like to hang around, one of them being Brrzaar.

At the bottom of Main Street is Brrzaar; a cafe where products range from frozen yogurt and drinks, to snacks like croissants and muffins. In this review, I will be going over the current yogurt flavors and their miniature chocolate chip muffins.

Brrzaar’s yogurt flavors tend to change every so often. During the last time I visited, Brrzaar offered vanilla, chocolate, tart, and vegan strawberry frozen yogurts. Recently, they’ve kept their four flavors the same with the exception of strawberry, which was seemingly replaced with vegan pumpkin pie.

When I got to Brrzaar, I ordered a yogurt cup with vanilla, chocolate, and creamy tart frozen yogurt. I went with a couple of friends who each ordered different things. One ordered chocolate yogurt, one Pumpkin pie yogurt, one iced chai latte, and one iced latte.

The first thing I sampled was the chocolate yogurt. The flavor was milder than I thought, but far from overwhelming and light on the taste buds. It didn’t leave a strong aftertaste and the soft chocolate flavor was a simple delight. The yogurt was a little airy and not too rich or thick.

The next flavor I tried was the tart. The tart at Brrzaar has consistently been a gentle flavor and isn’t too overwhelming.  People most likely won’t need to worry about this yogurt being too sour or sweet for their liking. The tart was overall an adequate frozen yogurt because of its expected flavor.

The last one I tried was the vanilla yogurt. As a classic ice cream flavor, my expectations were a bit higher for this simplistic option. While eating it, it felt really light and creamy, which was no surprise. You can’t ever go wrong with some plain vanilla.

Vanilla is naturally a delicate flavor that doesn’t overwhelm the consumer, so I was pretty satisfied with this one. Although, vanilla isn’t for everyone and especially not those who like to try more bold and daring flavors. It is an easy, straightforward treat.

After this, I got to try my friend’s pumpkin pie vegan fro-yo. It was noticeably thicker than the other frozen yogurts, and pretty mediocre. Personally I’m not a fan of pumpkin, but I found the pumpkin pie yogurt quite palatable since the flavor wasn’t strong or overbearing. It represents the flavor well, so if you like pumpkin, this is a great flavor for you. Additionally, something I noticed all these yogurts have in common is that the flavors don’t linger too long in your mouth. They’re enjoyable, light desserts.

I appreciated the incorporation of holiday aspects into the cafe, seeing as there were spooky Halloween decorations up, purple and orange Halloween sprinkles, and the seasonal pumpkin pie flavor of yogurt.

They also have a nice selection of pastries in a display case on their counter. I was surprised to find that their muffins were quite cheap and cost 50 cents each. It was a fairly fitting cost due to their compact size, and I happily bought three.

They weren’t too sweet, though they were a little dry and cakey. I concluded that it was your average chocolate chip muffin. A little vapid, but a good, easy to eat snack.

The overall conclusion was that everything was wonderfully satisfactory. Being right by the train station, this cafe is conveniently located in the heart of Irvington. Every business has its imperfections, and the ones I noticed were small- stuff no one really pays much attention to. The ample toppings catch the most attention, making up for any complaints as they add an extra bit of flavor and a fun to simple yogurt.

Brrzaar is a great place to hang out with friends and have something yummy . Whether you’re there for frozen yogurt, muffins, or drinks, Brrzaar rarely disappoints.
