Summer Grilling Tips

by Ben Hymowitz

When you think of the summer, you may think of the beach, the ocean, and vacation. One other thing that might come to mind is grilling. Grilling is an art that is easy to learn, so let me give you some of my top summer grilling tips.

The steak I personally love to grill is rib-eye. You want them about one inch thick. First, you take the steak out of the fridge and let it reach room temperature. As it reaches room temperature, add kosher salt to all sides of the steak. When the steak reaches temperature, pat it dry and add a little more salt.

The next part is crucial to a perfect steak. Clean your grill grates with a grill brush and get your grill really hot, about 550 degrees. Once the grill is at about 550 degrees, put the steak on it and cook for four minutes. Do not, and I repeat, do not touch the steak until the full four minutes is up. After the time is up, flip the steak once and let it cook for another four minutes. Immediately after the steak is done, pull it off, wrap in aluminum foil, and let rest for ten minutes. You can add a little salted butter to the top of the resting steak. Once the steak is fully rested, cut and serve.
