This weekend, the Irvington High School Drama Club held three performances of their spring musical, Freaky Friday, in the Campus Theater. The play was based on the movie of the same name, in which a mother and daughter switch bodies and are forced to navigate life in an unfamiliar environment. The play was comedic and lighthearted, and it was extremely engaging as the audience watched the plotline unfold.
The turnout at the three performances was overwhelming as people of all ages sat in the auditorium for the three hour duration of the play. Everything from the music in the pit, to the lighting, backdrops, and choreography was seemingly flawless.
Karli John and Josie Dring held the main roles of the daughter and mother. “Ask me a week ago and I would have told you that there was no way this show would go up successfully”, senior actress Josie Dring stated. “But, we pulled it together and it ended up being such a good time.”
After missing out on the opportunity to produce a play last year due to COVID, it was exciting to once again see the IHS Drama Club continue to do what they do best. Although a portion of the cast members are graduating this spring, there seems to be lots of hope for the future of Irvington’s drama productions.
