Yesterday, the appellate division issued a temporary stay of the Nassau ruling. The appellate division is the part of the American judicial system that is responsible for hearing and reviewing appeals from legal cases that have already been heard in a trial-level or other lower court.
This means that starting today the mask mandate for New York State public schools is back in effect until Friday. On Friday, the state will be back in court to decide the next steps to be taken.
This morning, this information was announced in all Irvington schools.
In an email to parents, Dr. Harrison reminded us that he is committed to keeping Irvington schools as safe as possible during these tough times, saying, “Every day, my commitment remains to the health and safety of our students and staff members.”
