IHS homecoming week was back in full force this school year. Students showed off their school spirit by participating in spirit week and attending the pep rally and night games to cheer on our student athletes.
Each day of spirit week was themed, varying from Tropical Tuesday to green and white day. The participation from both students and staff this year was excellent. Our school pride was on display all week.
Mia Cantillana, a freshman at IHS talked about spirit week, saying “It added a little more excitement to the week. Every day I was excited to come into school and see what everyone was wearing.”
During the pep rally on Friday, students filled the new bleachers wearing our school colors, green and white. The band performed “Go Big Green” and varsity team captains for fall sports spoke on their season’s, encouraged students to attend homecoming games, and to continue displaying school spirit throughout the fall season.
Towards the end of the pep rally, the homecoming court and royalty was named, and a student from each grade won most spirited based upon their outfits for each themed day.
Varsity sports took place every night during homecoming week where the student section dressed in corresponding colors and cheered on their classmates.
Unfortunately, the varsity football homecoming game on Saturday was postponed due to a covid outbreak on the opposing team. Although everyone was disappointed, students are looking forward to attending the football game when it is rescheduled in the future.
