The Long Running Irvington Pizza Debate

By Ben Hymowitz

One of the most controversial debates in Irvington is who has the best pizza. Is it the popular Tony’s? Is it the always busy Capri? Is it Irvington Pizza Company? Today, I’m here to share my 411s on the best pizza in our area.

Starting off with the classic plain slice, my vote goes to Sal’s in Mamaroneck. The crust is perfectly done, the saucy is savory with a slight sweetness, and the cheese is melted perfectly. I give it a solid 8/10, Hymo approved.

Secondly with the best specialty slices in our area, my vote goes to Capri in Tarrytown. Capri’s pizza case is always fully stacked with your favorite pizzas, the classics, the specials, and funky slices. My go-to is always the chicken vodka slice. The chicken bacon ranch slice is amazing as well. The vodka sauce on the chicken is freshly made, with the peas and chunks of mozzarella cheese complementing the sauce and chicken just right. I give it an 8.4/10, Hymo approved.

Thirdly with the best chicken mac/chicken tenders (this one’s for you Anton), my vote goes to Tony’s pizza in Irvington. The chicken cutlet on the slice is lightly fried, but still crunchy, the mac has the perfect mix of cheeses, and the bbq sauce on top is really what makes the slice. I give it a 8/10, Hymo approved.

Feel free to disagree with these choices, but I know the word around town is that Tony’s wins over almost everyone in Irvington’s heart. When near any of these three fine establishments, go give em’ a try!
