If you are from New York you know about the pain Knicks fans go through every year. From terrible seasons, injured stars, and a whole list of problems that lead to missing the playoffs every year. For the past eight seasons, the Knicks have had a losing record, but this season, things have finally changed. The Knicks finally have a winning record but this was not an easy road. Led by the new star Julius Randle, the Knicks are finally a force to be reckoned with.
There were plenty of doubters and haters early on, but thanks in part to new coach Tom Thibodeau the Knicks are contenders once again. As much as an impact this new coach has made, he doesn’t come close to the star Julius Randle, averaging just over 21 points, 10.2 rebounds, and six assists per game. These two parts of this machine have been essential to this year’s run to the playoffs and the number four seed. Besides their leader, other parts of the team have been immensely important as well. R.J. Barrett and Immanuel Quickley have both been huge.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing this season though. When Mitchell Robinson who was a huge part of their defense got hurt, their season was thought to be over, but they pushed through that rough patch and are finally in a good position. To help when they were down, former MVP of the league and former rookie of the year Derrick Rose came back to give them that extra fire.
The Knicks finally have a good team and a coach, so even if they don’t get a championship this year, they truly have a good base of a team and a bright future. They will begin their playoff journey this Sunday, at 7 p.m., against the Atlanta Hawks.
