The Irvington School District is in the process of implementing a plan to allow all students to participate in in-person learning in April. Previously, a six-foot distance has been maintained between desks; however, with the shift to a larger student attendance, this six-foot distance will no longer be attainable. Thus, the district plans on switching to a three-foot distance between desks.
To maintain the safety of all students and staff, the district is investing in dividers to place between students to make up for the compromised distance of their desks.
The dividers will be plastic dividers bolstered by a heavier duty corrugated plastic, and will be installed onto all desks. These dividers will be sanitized each evening to maintain cleanliness.
In addition, there will be tape on the floor of each classroom, indicating where the legs of the desks should remain.
Mr. Samuelson urges students to maintain diligent hygiene practices as the district moves into an all-in-person learning environment.
