The End is In Sight

The cafeteria has a new set up due to COVID-19.

Our school first closed on March 13, 2020, so COVID-19 has been plaguing us for over a year now. This has been a long and hard stretch, but the end is finally in sight. While we have no idea when it will actually end we do know how it will end.

COVID-19’s end will be via the vaccine.

There are now three different COVID vaccines: Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, and Pfizer-BioNTech. Each of these have been approved by the CDC and are either available to the public or will be shortly.

Over 92 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the United States from December 14, 2020, through March 8, 2021. Experts agree that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Each of the COVID-19 vaccines were evaluated in tens of thousands of participants in clinical trials. The vaccines met FDA’s rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization (EUA).

So now that we know these vaccines are safe and that many adults have already gotten them we are starting to see young people get them. School is expected to open on April 12 and although there is no mandatory COVID vaccines, we will likely see many students start being vaccinated.

Unfortunately, the vaccines are only available for people 16 and up right now, but this could change by next Fall as additional clinical trials for a children’s vaccine are being conducted.

The COVID vaccine will be a huge step in the right direction to getting us back to normal. As we get more people vaccinated across the country, more places will open up, and the sooner life will get back to normal.

We can see the end of the tunnel. Now it’s just about making it through.
