Virtually every college student in the world wants to find ways to not pay full price for the huge cost of college. People do this in many ways, applying for financial aid, but most of all, scholarships. There are so many scholarships out there, merit, sports, musicians, and tons of others. One student named Shanya Robinson-Owens was able to get a whopping $1 million in scholarships.
She started out just like the rest of us, applying to numerous colleges, nearly 30 in fact.
“As her acceptance letters came rolling in, her family quickly realized she was being offered just over $1 million in scholarship money,” reported CNN in an article about Robinson-Owens.
This seemed to be like a dream come true, not just for her but for pretty much all high school students in the world.
For many students, scholarships could be a way of paying for an education that would have otherwise been out-of-reach. Multiple websites carry information on many different scholarships and even how to get them.
The first tip many guides give to scholarship seekers is to always fill out the “optional questions” when giving your background on scholarship search engines as this can give many more results. Another big tip was to apply for every scholarship possible. This gives you the best chance of not just getting some scholarships, but getting a variety of them which is just basically more money.
To also get harder scholarships it is important to show how much you want them by going the extra mile, experts say. It is also important to use the people around you when searching for scholarships. Finally, letters of recommendation from teachers can help secure a scholarship once one has been found.
We may not all get $1 million in scholarships, but maybe we can get some money to help pay for this very expensive education.
