In just a year, so many lives were lost, and so much feels like it’s been missed out on.
This past week President Joe Biden addressed in his speech the devastation caused by COVID-19, as well as what step are being taken in order to end this fight against the virus.
He announced the number of deaths — 527,726 — which is more than the number of deaths in WWI, WWII, the Vietnam War and 9-11 combined.
Biden emphasized the importance of unity in America that needs to be prominent during this battle against COVID-19.
“We know what we need to do to beat this virus: tell the truth, follow the science, work together,” Biden said.
He reiterated that wearing a mask and getting vaccinated as soon as you can will help our country’s progress towards normality.
Biden hopes that by the Fourth of July, we will be able to celebrate our independence day as normal, as well as our independence from this virus.
Additionally, he shared the immense progress with vaccinations, which has outnumbered his prediction that he made at the start of his presidency. With this number of available vaccines, he has ordered all states to open vaccinations to adults starting May 1.
“I need you,” Biden said, as he stared into the camera lens addressing all Americans.
