With the Holiday season coming around and COVID-19 cases rising, many families will have to break Thanksgiving traditions and celebrate apart from their extended relatives.
Fortunately, there is nothing like a great feast to lighten the mood. Every family has their own special Thanksgiving menu, most of them including the basics like a Turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. But the rest? Well some families might do Thanksgiving a little bit differently. Take a look at the desserts and sides that some IHS students celebrate with:
Side menu:
Yams with Marshmallow (submitted by sophomore Lulu Forte)
Chinese Sticky Rice (submitted by sophomore Olivia Yin)
Fassoulia, an Armenian dish (submitted by sophomore Sienna Donoian)
Dessert menu:
Best Apple Pie (submitted by sophomore Ilona Marinopoulos)
Chocolate Ice Box Pudding (submitted by sophomore Lila Juenger)
Apple Cider Doughnuts (submitted by sophomore Theo Levin)
Cheesecake (submitted by sophomore Talia Ruoff)
Pecan Pie (submitted by freshman Gloria Song)
Although it is difficult to be apart from our families during this time, it is important that we all celebrate the holidays safely to lower the risk of a rise in COVID cases leading to further shut downs of businesses and schools.
But that does not mean that we can’t have a normal Thanksgiving meal. Maybe you can try one of the IHS students’ desserts in this year’s wacky Thanksgiving.
