The wildly successful movie Borat, originally released in 2006, recently released a sequel called Borat Subsequent Movie Film on Amazon Prime. The racist and misogynistic lead character Borat returns with his unique brand of wildly offensive and wildly funny satire.
Kazakhstan national Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) returns to America to get blackmail material on people in power in order to further the political agenda of Kazakhstan. At one point, he attends an event with (the real) Vice President Mike Pence and attempts to offer his daughter Tutar (Maria Bakalova) as a gift. This was satizing the cultural difference from Kazakhstan to the U.S.
Another thing that made this movie incredibly funny was that besides Borat and Tutar, most of the people in the movie, like in the original, were real people and not actors. This made the reactions authentic and even more funny.
This movie pokes fun at many current topics such as the looming election and even the COVID-19. I highly recommend you watch it if you are looking for a laugh. However, be aware Cohen’s satirical persona is quite offensive and not appropriate for younger audiences.
