A Better View for Bulldog Fans

By Danielle Heller and Sydney Birkhahn

Irvington Athletics will soon be improved with the new additions of raised bleachers which can hold more than 600 people, as well as a permanent concession stand for the Bulldog Booster Club to easily sell Irvington merchandise and snacks at sports events.

There will also be an addition of two bathrooms and an athletic trainer office. The top of this building will be used as an outdoor classroom available for classes to use during class.

Phys. Ed. teacher Martin Resendiz said, “The reason we need the bleachers put in are because the current ones that we have are not safe. They are not up to code, and they aren’t ideal for viewing any of our games or meets. This will allow more individuals to be seated in an area to actually view the game and not have a fence in front of their eyesight.”

This renovation was put into action as the second phase of the improvements of the athletic facilities. The first phase included the addition of the turf field and new track.

This second phase, happening this summer, also includes removing the current bleachers and equipment closet/tower.

These renovations are part of a debt-neutral capital bond project that passed as a referendum in the budget vote in May 2019.
