On Thursday, superintendent Kris Harrison disputed earlier reports that an offer had been made to a candidate in Irvington’s search for a new high school principal.
Tappan Zee High School assistant principal Juliet L. Gevargis-Mizimakoski appears to be the most likely candidate for the vacant high school principal, but reports about a tendered offer were incorrect according to Harrison.
Ms. Gevargis-Mizimakoski, who goes by “Ms. GM,” could not be reached for comment.
In April, current principal Dave Cohen announced that he will be leaving Irvington at the end of the school year to take a job as principal of Jericho High School in Long Island.
There have been several announced departures at the administrative level this year, leaving the school district looking for a new high school principal, athletic director, technology director and assistant superintendent for instruction and human resources, following Dr. Raina Kor announced retirement effective January 2020.
