Feeling Stressed? Make a ‘Pet Pal’

By Jackie Pollack

The guidance counselors have developed a new program for students called Pet Pals. Every club day, Pet Pals offers time for students to pet and play with dogs from the SPCA of Westchester. Spending time with furry friends is a great way of alleviating the stress that stems from school work and extracurricular activities.

Pet Pals was launched on March 5th and has been widely successful. The SPCA of Westchester introduced the students to a sweet service dog named Lorenzo, a Boxer-Shepard mix. Lorenzo was adopted from the SPCA shelter at two years old and has been with the program for a year.

Lorenzo performed some of his tricks, including his ability to sit and stay, and was rewarded with bacon treats. He was super affectionate and gave kisses to the students and guidance counselors.

Lorenzo often visits Westchester Medical Center students in Valhalla to help relieve the students’ stress.

Be sure to stop by the guidance room during the next club day to spend time with a cuddly pup! If you’re interested, please take the time to fill out this form:
