District Director of Technology Resigns

By Julia Moss

Mr. Jesse Lubinsky, director of technology and innovation for the school district, submitted a letter of resignation last Thursday to the Irvington Board of Education, sparking an emergency meeting Friday to accept his resignation.

This announcement was made by administrators to the community through a series of emails and letters posted to the district website from board president Mr. Michael Hanna and Dr. Kristopher Harrison, superintendent of schools.

“Through his roles as both a former teacher and administrator, Mr. Lubinsky’s enthusiasm for teaching and learning positively impacted a great number of students and families in the district. We fully recognize and appreciate the reactions of concern from staff, students and community members, and we are focused on addressing this unforeseen departure in a manner that will be in the best interests of our students,” reads a January 27 letter from Mr. Hanna and Dr. Harrison.

He was first hired into the district as a math teacher before becoming the director of technology and innovation. In addition, Mr. Lubinsky has served as a keynote speaker at educational technology conferences throughout the country, and has consulted for Fortune 500 companies.
