Two Irvington swimmer — junior Ava Franks and sophomore Grace Brady — completed an amazing season as part of the combined Sleepy Hollow-Hastings-Edgemont-Irvington (SHEDI) team at the State Championship at Ithaca College on Nov. 17, helping SHEDI finish second place in the State.
Franks swam the first spot in the State Champion 200m Freestyle Relay, a team that received All-American consideration. Franks also finished seventh in the 200m IM and ninth in the 100m breaststroke. Brady, meanwhile, posted a 54th-place finish in the 200 Freestyle.
“I was really proud of my team and my coaches because i know that everyone had put in so much work prior to the meet,” said Franks. “I think it really paid off in the end. It was really fun to race with them and be part of the team.”
SHEDI trailed Pittsford by just three points in the final team tally.
