The Irvington Bulldogs wrapped up the fall sports season with some standout performances from teams and from individuals in sports, such as the swimming, volleyball, and cross country.
The Irvington boys cross country team won Class C in the sectional championship on November 3rd. The team finished ahead of high seeded teams from Briarcliff, Dobbs Ferry, and Pleasantville.
SHEDI (the combined team of Sleepy Hollow, Hastings, Edgemont, and Irvington) won the sectional title for swimming on November 1st, accumulating a total of 294 points and winning the night by 94, the first time in SHEDI history.
Irvington swimmers Ava Franks and Grace Brady both placed. Brady placed seventh in the 500 free and 14th in the 200 free. Franks placed second in both the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke. Franks placed third in the 400 relay and was also part of the winning 200 free relay.
Both of the swimmers will move on to compete at Ithaca College in the State Championships on November 16th and 17th.
When asked about going to States, Franks said, “SHEDI is going for all four relays, but I am going for the 200 relay and the 400 relay and two individual medleys. I’m really excited because I love the people on my team and excited to hang out with them for a weekend and to compete and I think SHEDI is going to place well overall.”
The volleyball team played in the sectional semifinals on November 1st, the team was the 11th seed and played against #2 Ardsley at Ardsley High School. The team put in a great effort and had an amazing game, but sadly fell short with a final score of 3-1. The team had a terrific season and run in their sectional tournament.
In other postseason play, the Bulldog football team lost 20 to 14 on Saturday, November 3rd in the BSN Bowl at Edgemont High School.
