On October 19, the varsity boys soccer season came to an end for the 2018 season. After winning 4 games this season, they finished with a 4-12 record and the 16th seed in the sectionals tournament.
However, the team didn’t feel that their record reflected their skill level after losing seven games by only one goal differentials. Dylan Seymour, senior captain, said “I think our record wasn’t as strong as we would have liked.”
He added, “It truly wasn’t an appropriate reflection of most games.”
Each of these games motivated the team to work harder but unfortunately they couldn’t find a way to finish games. Seymour admits, “We often found ourselves behind early and could not always fight back and capitalize offensively.”
Barely making it into sectionals, the boys hoped they could out hustle the 1 seed, Rye Neck. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to win and lost 4-0.
“Despite the results of our last two games, we kept our heads up the whole time and us seniors really enjoyed our last times playing together,” said Seymour.
The team had 13 seniors this year and will need to rely on younger talent in order to bounce back from their underwhelming season.
