Gregory, Stassa win in only contested elections

Traditionally, student council positions were heavily contested and candidates addressed the whole student body with speeches, this year there were so few contested spots that there was no assembly and instead the candidates who had opposition spoke over the intercom.

This year there were only two positions which had more than one candidate, these positions were junior class vice president and senior class president.

For junior class vice president, Arianna Stassa won, and for senior class president, Jerry Gregory won.

The students running for junior class vice president were Stassa and Bronwyn Owen. Both of them gave their speeches after the morning announcements.

The students running for senior class president were Mykal Bartlett, Jacob Dunefsky, and Gregory. The candidates for senior class president gave their speeches at the beginning of third period over the intercom.

Student Council spots are available to all students each year, and students can run for various positions such as their grade president, vice president, secretary, or representative. In addition to these positions for each grade, there is the position of school president which is typically served by a senior.

Students running for positions give their speeches and are voted for the year prior that they would be in Student Council.
