For the first time ever, the Irvington About Safe Kids Committee will host a pre prom “red carpet” themed event at the school campus from 5:00-6:30 before the event. Students are required to take the group bus to this year’s prom, held Thursday June 4th at the Westchester Manor in Hastings.
Earlier this year, seniors voted to have pre-prom festivities at school, according to senior Phoebe Forlenza.
Junior Matina Mountroukas believes that, “I think the red carpet is a bad idea and not many students will attend. People would rather have pre-prom with their own group of friends.”
However, sophomore Emma Derose says, “Since all of my friends are going with boys from different friend groups, we would go to different pre-proms. The red carpet allows me and my friends to all be together during pre prom.”
Although some students love the idea of being together as a school community before prom, others would prefer to spend pre-prom exclusively with their friend group.
