Students Should Lock Up Valuables

Over the past few weeks, some students have reported missing items, specifically wallets, allegedly taken from their bags, and some students are wondering what steps they can take to protect themselves.

New assistant principal Mr. Samuelson encouraged students to secure their items in lockers, rather than leaving them lying around.

“I think everyone should get in the habit of using their lockers and locking them,” he said. “We have to be thoughtful about our possessions, and lock them up whenever we have the opportunity. I often see bags on top of lockers, next to lockers sitting in the hallway, and unfortunately I think it’s just a matter of time until someone loses something truly valuable.”

Some students also shared advice on how to keep their possessions secure. Junior Ben Yeh said, “When I go to gym, I don’t use my locker for my bag. I keep all my stuff upstairs, and just stash my wallet deep in my bag.”

Senior Melissa Lindsay had a different approach, “I usually keep my bag in my locker, and when I don’t, I just put my wallet in my bag.”
