Where Did Pokemon Go?

During the summer of 2016, the race to catch them all began. The releasing of the cell phone game Pokemon GO started the revival of the old childhood card game and TV show.

The fad quickly caught on with Irvington students, causing a stampede to catch them all. Most students in the high school quickly grabbed their friends and began long and enjoyable treks up and down Main Street to catch Pokemon. However, like most fads, Pokemon Go was popular for a few weeks and then quickly died out.

So where did Pokemon GO? Where did the fun times of catching Pokemon and getting outside go?

Justin Conwisar, a senior, said, “It’s gone from going out intentionally to catch Pokemon, to taking it out to see if anything was here.”

Jason Kim, a sophomore, said “I stopped playing because it got boring.”

But there are still a few die-hard fans out there. Maddy Calick, a junior at irvington high school said “I still play for one reason only. I want to be the best in the school.”

Others hope the new update will lead to a resurgence in popularity for the game.

Senior Harrison Narizzano said, “I still play occasionally but i’m waiting for trading and the next generation.” This update has been the hype among  devoted Pokemon trainers around the school.
