Vending Machines Dispensing Trouble

by Aidan Denahy

The cafeteria vending machine; you know the one. The magical musical machine that dispenses your daily nutrients and snacks. “It’s been here as long as I can remember,” said Julie Orlando, and near all of the students share that feeling.

So why does this omnipotent force seem like such a bother to deal with? “It just today it ate my money,” claims sophomore Alex Inglis. He’s not alone. Many others have faced similar problems with the machine.

Before we get into the details of the vending machine itself, let’s take a look at it’s contents. A bag of chips, costing $1.25, seems to be a nicely sized snack for your midday hungers, but upon opening the bag one finds that the bag contains a mere 15 potato chips. Most of this bag is just air, obviously not worth the price tag, which has been brought up since last year.

“They hike up the prices and give us so little, we can’t even pay with full dollars, we have to get change,” says sophomore Will Felix.

The vending machine is owned and operated by the company that provides our school with it’s cafeteria food, and therefore the administration is not really responsible for any problems relating to it. Mr. Cohen has heard complaints about the machine before, and brought it up with the company that runs our cafeteria.

“The problem has been addressed and the company that services our cafeteria is working on solving it.” stated Mr. Cohen. Let’s hope this whole ordeal will be over soon.
